Wait... What Season is it, Exactly?

Twig, MN. Officially true- no more ice skating or hockey. Winter must be over.

Aha! A Sign of Spring! We knew they were out there somewhere! We thought they’d be more hidden, but this one is out in the open, bold as brass. Except for that snowstorm…

Yeti, Taco, and Stuffie Friends!

We thought it was Spring for sure last week when we were helping with the projects. It was hot & sunny outside. We must have gotten our seasons mixed up because we woke up to lots of snow on the ground! You know how much we love snow, so we just had to go and check things out.

Our landlord put out the bird feeders this morning (guess we Stuffies and the neighborhood black bears can’t be trusted at night). We started our day by getting a few snacks of sunflower seeds and millet. We think our snacking scared the small birds away as we have not seen any this morning. Of course, we’ve been gone so maybe they decided to eat elsewhere. More food for us!

After that delicious snack, we can head off to adventure for the day! Our first stop was to visit Mr. Moose. He welcomes everyone who comes to visit. He looked pretty cold, so we stayed a while to warm him up. And we did some entertaining while we were there. We’re gave a pretty good concert of warbling, hooting, and chittering, and singing. We would have stayed there longer, but we heard the door open and decided to find out what was going on.

Our landlord was heading into the boat garage. Scottie got all excited (since he knew what was inside)! Sure enough, the boat was there looking lonely since the other family took their boat away a couple of weeks ago. Anyhow, Scottie showed Flicker, Owl, and Loonie around and they got excited as well. No boating today= snow is not when you want to be on the lake. Also the registration needs to get updated.

Scottie said one of his favorite places is the spruce tree so we checked it out. We all love a good tree hangout time. Nothing special to see today- other than a good view of the driveway and front yard. Guess it doesn’t take much to excite a squirrel!

Found these really big snowshoes in the garage. They’re pretty hard to walk in. It’s a good thing we had the extra snack at the bird feeder. Since the ice melted in the middle of the lake, we will have to stay along the shore. We heard a loon and some Canadian Honkers so we headed in that direction to start. Too bad Amelia isn’t here to greet her cousins! We’ll let them know she is visiting AK along with another Stuffie friend.

We found a sled on the hill when we got back. Our landlord must have taken it out for a spin. Some of our new arrivals have never been on the wild ride that is a trip downhill in the snow with the wind in your fur (or feathers). We had a terrific time and would have stayed out longer, but our landlord said he was done and needed to go inside. Since we can’t carry this gear ourselves (or close the garage door), we had to leave with him.

We’ve been out all day exploring, snowshoeing, and sleddding. We never could find the loon and geese (honkers) . It was snowing a lot (3+ inches) so they probably hunkered down! Speaking of that, we are tired and headed in for a nap.

P.S.- Just want you to know we got a special treat of cashews after all our outdoor adventures yesterday!
