Hey, Stuffie Friends!
It has been some time since we chatted about our lives in MN. It had been too hot to go outside so we’ve been chillin’ indoors. However, since it was so nice outside today, we talked Stella into taking us outside to investigate. First thing we checked out is the boat. It is still in the boat garage. It looks like it is ready to go- we’re just not sure when! Scottie keeps talking about his fishing trip last year. We hope that maybe, just maybe, one will be in our future.
Of course Scottie said he’d be in charge of driving and will assign us as lookouts. Luckily for us, birds have excellent eyesight. We should be able to find all the fishes hiding out without too much trouble. Loonie thinks he heard his cousin calling down at the lake so he is getting really excited!
Dan’s been going down to the lake every night to fish. He claims he catches a lot of bass. We went down to take a turn. We fished for quite a long time (we think- it felt like forever) but not a single bite! We also didn’t see a single bass, so we are really questioning his story about catching some big ones…
Next, we checked out the kayaks. If the big boat never goes into the water, these could be a good fishing option. Looks like they’re all ready to go. There are actually two, which is good. Four of us in one will get really crowded.
While we were getting the kayaks ship-shape, we spotted some chairs outside near the fire pit. Again, Scottie (who’s lived here the longest) said they make special treats called S’mores. S’mores are roasted marshmallows squished in between graham crackers with a chocolate bar. We read about our new friend Carol making them with cookies and peanut butter (which also sounds yummy).
We’ll have to check out to see if the ingredients are in the house. We’ll also keep a lookout for a campfire. That may be a problem since it’s been really dry here. We saw a note from DNR (whoever that is) that fires are prohibited in many areas right now. We may have to wait until later in the summer or fall.
We sure enjoyed the day relaxing with Stella in the shade looking at the lake. Loonie definitely heard his cousins calling so he is getting pretty excited about maybe sneaking out soon and taking a kayak to say “hi”.
Somehow we almost forgot to show you our newest trip up the flagpole. We’ve started racing to see who can claim which flag first. Scottie got pretty upset that Flicker flew to the top and claimed the Scottish flag. He really threw a fit so he ended up on the bottom!
Well, it turns out that evening is the time for fishing, after all. Check out this beauty! Stella said it smelled like dinner. We all agreed, but Dan said it was going back in the lake. We can’t wait to catch some more. Maybe the next ones will be cooked in a frying pan! Mmmm… fresh fish and S’mores. That’s our idea of a delicious dinner.
