Picking the Perfect Pumpkins
Greetings, Stuffie fans around the globe! We all got to travel to a pumpkin patch near Portland, Oregon on a gorgeous Autumn day. SO many wonderful, colorful pumpkins all around. This group of three showcases the difficult decisions ahead. How to pick when each one is better than the last? Very hard choices for some of us. For others, not so much…
Little pumpkins for our little friends. (Also, the cute brown bear pictured here is our friend Johnny Whoop, visiting us from MN.)
Why are we all standing on the pumpkins? Won’t they break? What happens if they break? What’s inside them, anyway? Can I eat them? Wait, there more friends than pumpkins! I need my own pumpkin. Can I get a big one anywhere?
-Fajita
Now, this is better. The perfect pumpkin for me! It’s huge, orange, and smells delicious! Wait, why does it smell? Do I smell? Also, what is smell? How does it work, exactly? Will Katie make a pie with this one for us? MMM…. pie.
Of course you need a large pumpkin, Fajita! The bigger, the better. And, I’m not sure why some of the friends are going on about all the pretty colors these pumpkins are. Pumpkins are orange. That’s it.
All the rest of these colorful spheres are alien squashes trying to take over the world. And, not to alarm you all, but there are TONS of them. Everywhere we looked in this pumpkin patch you could see them, crowding the regular orange ones. I’d better get this one out of here before it’s too late.
Queenie & Roxy reporting from our favorite pick of the patch. We like how this one is a mixture of colors. It doesn’t let society’s expectations (or Yeti’s) define what a pumpkin should be. Why should anyone? You get to choose your path in life or a pumpkin patch. We love that this one isn’t afraid to be curvy, lumpy, stripy, mottled. It’s just bold, out there and proud. Two thumbs up- we’re taking this one home!
Something about this one just makes me smile. It’s so cheerful and robust. It reminds me of the sun over the savannah on my recent trip to Africa. I was feeling a little nervous about all the large animals wandering freely over the landscape. All these adventure books I’ve been reading are very inspiring. Courage can be found anywhere. I also reminded myself that I could just fly away if anything got too scary. Don’t worry- I made friends, not enemies. And I’m excited to go to India soon and check out the jungle.

Little green pumpkin. Little green Froggy. Perfect! I’m all set! Whoa, gotta go- there are some serious insects around here just waiting to become a snack. I can hear them…. “Froggy! Froggy!”
I’m a little unsure how I’m going to pick this one up. It’s the perfect pumpkin for me. We both have light & dark stripes and a great sense of fashion. It will be worth the effort of getting this home, for sure. Besides, what are friends for?

Umm. Hello? Why on earth would you pick a pumpkin when there’s a much, much better crop right here? Corn can be delicious in many forms. Know my favorite one? Yup- TACOS!!! Not sure how many steps it takes to get from this to a delicious, crunchy, salty, hot-sauce-filled treat, but it’s gonna be worth it. I got some friends to help me find the best ones and do some picking. Too bad they seemed more interested in playing than harvesting…
Has anyone seen Little Guy 2? Anyone? He was just here…
Three issues.
One- this is not a squash. What on earth is it?
Two- are we seeing things? How on earth did Little Guy 2 clone himself?
Three- if Little Guy 2 cloned himself, what did he do with that machine? And how worried should we be?
