Grand Opening of Amelia Airheart's Airport!

Bonjour! Amelia Airheart here! I’m so excited to tell you that En Plein Air is open for business! I’ve got the pilots lined up and they are eager to take you wherever your heart desires. Want to head South to the Caribbean for the Winter? Been dreaming of some delicious pastries at a El Día de Muertos celebration en Mexico? Est-ce que vous voulez parler français avec des parisiens au musée du Louvres?

Never fear! We can get you there, easy-peasy!

Maybe Paris is only lovely in the Springtime and you’d like to check out the action in Minnesota? We understand! There are so many wonderful things to see and smell here. Plus some of the most well-stocked libraries around, staffed with some fantastically helpful and wonderful librarians. (They’d win a prize for sure, if only there were such a thing for those hard-working, book-finding, resourceful folks.)

Speaking of libraries, here’s the one we had installed at my new airport. As you can see, it’s stocked with books big & small. There’s so much to read and so little time in which to do it. And, if we’re considering all the things begging for our attention, it can be hard to sit still and pay attention. That’s why I enjoy travel books the most. You can find out all about new places to visit, foods to try, and entertainment to be had. Personally, I’m hoping someone will want to fly to Timbuktu pretty soon. Can’t wait to see Africa after hearing about it from Oscar!

By the way, all of the books at our airport library are free of charge. Keep them as long as you like- no late fees here! And, if you’re really enjoying a book, you can keep it! We’re confident the donations will come rolling in. If not, we are personally acquainted with some bookworms who might be feeling generous and could help a couple of birds out…

And, as promised, we have a fantastic lake and parkland right in the airport. Gorgeous flowers and landscaping rim the edge of this crystal-clear lake. It’s just right for a quick dip or a long swim. We had to test the waters to make sure they were “just right”. Not sure who flew this lake in just for us, but they did an excellent job. We’re still awaiting longer grass to eat. They say that it takes awhile for it to seed. (Oops, maybe that was us. We did feel a mite peckish and help ourselves to some teeny nibbles nearby.)

Those of you who’ve been diligently following the Stuffie world will be unsurprised to learn that our first passenger was Scottie. He couldn’t wait to try out our new airline (now that it’s officially open). He also graciously agreed to leave the snacks at home. I will admit that was a surprise.

We flew directly to Kettle River, where we met up with Beth. (She was the mastermind behind the Yard Sale that Scottie and friends helped to run.) I didn’t get to see the yard sale myself. We were too busy making plans, scheduling flights, approving airport decorations, you know- all the things required of young entrepreneurs about to launch their first global airline. We heard it was a great success and tons of fun. We also heard that the agreed-upon payment for their services had yet to be rendered. We knew there must be an explanation.

She was definitely surprised when we flew in with Scottie. Maybe she was surprised to see us flying because they don’t get many Canadian Geese in her neck of the woods? He made his demands and explained that the strike was gaining traction and lots of followers. Not to worry- there’s good news! Beth had a secret payment plan they just didn’t know about. She has a stash of goodies awaiting our Stuffie friends and was trying to figure out the fastest way to get them there. Well, we had the perfect solution and she was very happy to support our fledgling industry!

She hooked us up with the first round of the goodies to take north with us. (Still limited luggage capacity on En Plein Air. We’re working on it.)

Although happy for our friends, we were beyond thrilled about Beth contracting us for weekly treat delivery service. First day, first flight ever= regular clients and happy customers. Now that’s what we call a Grand Opening!

Can’t wait to bring you more news from the airwaves. Au revoir!
