Fall Outings Abound

Wednesday is Seniors day on the golf course, so Dan and Marial took us on an adventure for the afternoon. We couldn’t believe how many of Amelia’s cousins were on the course! They seemed to be having a grand time! As they say, a flock that eats together stays together. And these geese had taken over the fairway (that’s what you call the grassy part of the golf course). Wonder if they get stuck in the sand traps?

We didn’t want to get to close because there was a lot of… well, let’s just say we had to be careful where we stepped.

We even got to ride on the top of the gold carts. Scotty wanted to drive, but then Dan pointed out that the view above was top-notch. Wol spotted the lake (in the distance) which explains why the geese were nearby. Boy they have a great life out here!

We served as official scorekeepers. This isn’t garage sale cash register math, so it was pretty easy for us. We had to observe the putts like this one. Apparently the closer you get the ball to that flag pole, the better. We occasionally heard Dan mutter something whenever he got to the greens … we don’t think he was very happy! Good thing the grandkids weren’t there. They would have had a lot of grumps to count.

Speaking of sports, Dan took us to his St. Thomas Homecoming game on Saturday. The game was pretty boing for us Stuffies (even though St. Thomas won). The exciting part was watching the dance team at halftime. They’re really good- no wonder they’ve won 17 national championships! (For the record, we’re a little unsure why it’s taking them more than 17 years to finish college, but we’ve never been. Maybe it’s really hard!)

In other news, we had a bit of controversy arise this week. As you know, we worked really hard at the garage sale a few weeks ago but we still haven’t gotten our check. We’d even take food as payment, to be honest with you. Since none is forthcoming, we are going on strike. Our motto is “No snacks, no more work!” (That means no wheelbarrows, no shoveling, no golf scorekeeping, nada. We are totally untied on this one and are joining our friends at Kelloggs (cereal). Apparently they haven’t been getting enough snacks either!
