Jicama's Garden Tour
Hello, old friends! It’s Jicama here with our guest, Johnny Whoop. It has been quite the visit, I can tell you. My little Fajita is a handful on their own. They have so many questions and interests and boundless energy. Add an entreprenurial dragon and an extremely curious bear to the mix and you just never know what might happen. We’ve been spelunking and diving and swimming and surfing in the ocean. We’ve been climbing and running and hiking and hiding in the forest. We’ve been swinging and sliding and whirling around playgrounds. It was time for this mama to have a nice restful day in the back garden.
Well, that was my plan anyway.
A lovely late summer day, wouldn’t you say? I was teaching the little ones about the different varieties of flowers and how they each have gifts to give the world. In the middle of pondering the beauty of nature, I realized that all 3 of them had disappeared.
They bounded out of the planter, but only after I reminded them that plants were not to be used as jungle gyms. We had to climb up onto the edges of the next pots so we could better examine the flowers and enjoy their fragrance. This time, they all did so very carefully. Gracious me!
Next, it was time to discuss the beneficial properties of some flora and how pollinators benefit from having a variety of species in a garden.
…. Now where did they go?
Fajita (in particular) was concerned that this was a bag of Froggy and his friends and relations. I reassured them all that the company was named after our fun-loving friend. I pointed out that the mascot on the bag was actually a tree frog native to the rainforests of the Amazon…. oh, dear. Now I lost Taco.
I ought to have known that he wouldn’t miss an opportunity to gather more produce for his taco stand. Taco was very unhappy when he learned that we were just looking and enjoying and appreciating. NOT harvesting tomatoes without permission.
No sooner had I finished saying that than the owner of this gorgeous landscape appeared on the deck. She said we were welcome to pick some flowers and anything…. (I try my utmost to be polite at all times. I regret to report that I was a touch rude to her. It seemed necessary to interrupt the sentence before she finished it with “we liked.” Taco is not to be stopped once he begins.) We chose a few flowers carefully and then we headed home for nap time.
Sadly, it’s time for us to go. Our friend Froggy will be quite interested to hear that his relative is famous and that he can get his happiness certified. Hope you enjoy a lovely September wherever you are. Be sure to get outside and smell some flowers. See you soon!
