Introducing Our New Friend....

OH, my goodness! I can’t even believe it! Can you believe it? I’m famous!!! I was recently the star of a GAME SHOW! I know, it’s incredible. Did you even know this was a thing that could happen? I sure didn’t, but then again I have a pretty limited neighborhood. The fish in the lake, birds in the sky, and squirrels in the trees sure didn’t know about it.

Here’s what happened. Remember when I got out to help with the snow and drove the tractor for Chris? He was so appreciative that he offered to help me out with something in exchange. (It’s good to help without expecting anything in return. On the other hand, if someone’s offering, it’s rude to say “no”. Who am I to deny generosity?)

My problem is that I’ve been missing having a name. Well, I didn’t know I was missing it until I met Yeti and Friends. They pointed out that they’d love to correspond, but they didn’t know what to call me. That’s where Chris came in.

First, he posted this on YMCA Camp Shady Brook social media: “Many of our CSB stuffed animals were not able to be adopted in 2020 and have been hanging out in the Trading Post since 2019. Needless to say, they got pretty bored. As they wait to meet their new people at camp in 2021, they decided to join one of their friend's blog. Leave a comment below if you have a suggestion for this bear's name!”

And, oh my goodness, the camp community rose to the challenge. Look at all these great names!

Oh, wait- that’s not all of them. We are so lucky to have so many creative minds among us! Thanks, everyone, for all these ideas!

Unfortunately, all these names caused a problem. How to decide? Who gets to decide? That’s where the Game Show came in. These cool bracket things help decide who wins. I’m still learning how to count and can only go up to 150. We got at least that many votes before I lost track.

Okay, honesty is important. I can count really high but I was bored and pretty hungry. So I left the camp office and went in search of some snacks. It’s hard to be a bear at camp without lots of food being cooked in the Dining Hall.

Anyway, all those votes led us to the final round of the Game Show. So many great names, but people really loved the name….

There you have it- I have a name! HOORAY! Maybe I can get Chris or Sonny to throw me a “Happy Naming Party” (like a Birthday) and give me some delicious treats… I’ll have to see what I can do. If needed, I can drive the golf cart around and do some errands for them.
