Hotel Stay Goes... Surprisingly Well?
Hey, everyone! It’s me, Yeti, your favorite adorable Oregon Coast bear. Oh, I just remembered. I’m supposed to be on my best behavior so I can regain control of my hundreds of dollars of liberated cash. Hey, everyone! It’s me, Yeti, ONE of your favorite adorable bears!
Anyway, Froggy and I were talking early last week about all these trips Katie’s always taking. Sure, we get to go on some of them and they’re fun. But mostly we’re sleeping in tents & things. The best we can hope for is a trip with some all-night slumber parties with our Stuffie friends. We deserve to be pampered! To be put up in fancy hotels with bathrobes and free breakfasts and what-not. Never mind that Katie doesn’t usually stay in those hotels. We can make things happen with our cuteness, charm, and some well-placed currency (that means we bribed the hotel staff). We found this great place called the Ace Hotel.
We knew you needed money to stay in a hotel. So, we did what any resourceful friends would do. We got a guitar and did some busking on the streets of Portland. That means we played music for passers-by and they put money in a jar for us. Thanks, everyone!
It was a very cozy hotel, with lots of relaxing spaces made just for us. Not saying this is the treatment humans would get, but we had the run of the place. Now, that’s what I call hospitality.
One of the best parts of our Stuffie all-night parties has to be the snacks. This place has it made! You might notice Little Guy 1 and 2 enjoying Coke and Cookies. And, if I’m being honest, 2 lizard friends with access to unlimited caffeine and chocolate did not go well for the rest of us. Let’s just say, some chandeliers were involved and some multi-story flinging might have been happening. No one got hurt. And they want you to know they had a terrific time! The fact that I didn’t appreciate getting hit in the face by flying lizards? Not a concern for them. We’ll handle that problem later.
Being a hotel in Portland, Oregon, there were plenty of books to read. Maybe it’s because this city is the home of Powell’s?
While on his perch on the bookshelf, Froggy spied something VERY interesting across the way…
And it was meant just for us! Just check out this sign! Why else would they say it that way?
Thanks, sign! I know I do!
Of course we headed inside and took some snaps. How did we pay for the photos, you might ask? Again, I’ll just point out our charm and good looks. And good manners. Sometimes it matters how you ask… (OH. That’s what the Polite Peoples’ Club has been trying to tell me. Hmm.)
Boy, was that photo booth fun! We were having a great time, until our lookouts (Little Guy 1 & 2) spied Katie coming down the street. It was time to hide! (It’s at this point that I should make a confession. Katie didn’t bring us on this trip. We kind of… invited ourselves.
When we were discovered hiding in the shrubbery, we knew the jig was up. Luckily, turns out that the consequence was just having to go to the camping conference with Katie. She said it was a great opportunity for me to learn something.
Joke’s on her- she showed me this sign & I loaded up on free treats and lots of good deals. I might or might not have gained some sponsorship opportunities. We’ll see- this bear will be famous yet!
P.S. -What Katie didn’t know is that I was already doing some learning. I got a lot of great ideas from these two books. Can’t wait to use what I learned!!! Thanks for the vacation!
