Canadian Rockies

Hello, Stuffie Fans! It’s me, Scottie, with more tales of summer travel. We said we’d been a lot of places- and this isn’t our last vacation post of the summer. It’s great to have adventurous landlords that are retired! (We highly recommend it.) We got to visit the Canadian Rockies this summer and it was pretty incredible. For starters, look at these skies!

As soon as Flambé saw those cold, frozen mountain peaks, he became single-minded. The goal? To melt as much snow as possible. Why not? If that sounds fun to a dragon, let’s do it! I don’t mind, as long as there are lots of snacks afterwards! And doesn’t this look like a nice layer cake with heaps of frosted peaks?

Yow! Don’t try to bite them- they’re extremely hard rocks! We drove to another mountain…

Flambé still hadn’t gotten enough fire-breathing/snow melting/vapor cloud making in. We were on our way to yet another mountain when we made a discovery…

In case you can’t see very well, here they are up close- Rocky’s relatives!

Looks like our friend on the left is really curious or upset or maybe has a fly in their ear? We spent a lot of time looking at them. It had been a full day of eating snow and snacks and climbing mountains. We had our pick of campers in which to sleep.

After a good night’s rest, we headed out to a destination with lots of exciting sites. First, a waterfall….

My only question was, “Which of these humans are most likely to have good snacks they’d like to share with a cute squirrel?” Ober’s question was, “How fast can I climb to the top of the falls for a vista?”

Turns out, the answer is, “Pretty fast.” And Ober said it was a spectacular view. I agree!

As we hiked back down the mountain, our views were interrupted by a surprise event. This is the second time this year we’ve gone out of the country and gotten a snowstorm. We were glad to get back into the car and have the heater turned on!

Once we warmed up our feathers and fur, it was time for the next destination- a local glacier.

Um. Pretty sure Flambé wasn’t thinking when he flew up and melted all the ice in that glacier. It came pouring down the slope right towards us and we had to get to high ground. Good thing we’re all good at flying or climbing things!

Amelia Airheart can’t wait to start flying routes to the Canadian Rockies. Contact her to schedule a trip!

We’ll talk to you soon about… another vacation!
