We Are the Opposite of Bored....

Hey, everybody! It’s your fantastic smallest Stuffies here to say, “hello”! We’re still on our camp adventures, and we’re now having an amazing week at YMCA Camp Jackson. They sure know how to pack a week full of fun! How do these camps do it? The first day was the worst day. Not that it was bad, but that each day got better from there. We enjoyed making our cabin flag, our cabin cheer, and playing the Counselor Hunt game. It was a lot like our Stuffie Hide-and-Seek. We mostly enjoyed the campfire entertainment!

The next day, we got to go to the Low Ropes course and do some team challenges. We were super good at them, thanks to all our recent practice. We didn’t give away any ideas, but we did help the campers out a lot. For example, here’s us showing them which way to follow the rope maze.

Our next activity was slingshots. It was really hard. For some of us, we don’t have long arms. Others of us have very long arms. After getting flung pretty often, we decided to just hang out and watch the campers do their best. Some of them hit the targets every time!

There’s Free time most every afternoon here. We heard good things about the Arts & Crafts offerings, but it was all Gaga Ball all the time for us. That game just does not get old- throwing a ball at other people’s legs and jumping/flying up to not get hit? What an adrenaline rush!

We did choose Arts and Crafts on “Tie Dye Tuesday), though. Who wouldn’t want one of these cool shirts? We begged them for smaller t-shirts in our size. They didn’t have any for us, so we decided to share a big one and turn it into a blanket. OR a fort. We’re not sure yet.

Some camps out there (we won’t name names) don’t let campers pick up sticks. This camp is all about them! We got to use walking sticks all week and there was even a special time set aside to paint our sticks before we took them home. And that’s how it’s done, people!

One of the days, our cabin got to go to archery. Since we couldn’t manage the bows and arrows by ourselves, we had to get creative… with just a little help- bull’s eye!

Something new this year is called “Camper’s Choice”. You get to pick one activity period where you go a bunch of times during the week with others who are interested (not just your cabin). We found some new friends who love high-flying trapeeze stuff almost as much as we do. (And, it’s not a contest. That’s something we learned at camp. Sometimes it’s just about your own experience & what you want to get out of it.)

Another incredible part of the week was the packout night. There are lots of camps in Colorado that take kids outside to sleep out and cook over a fire (or stove) and hang out in the woods. It was our favorite night of camp. Taco loved it because he got to put his own ingredients in his foil-packet dinner. He choose leftover nachos with LOTS and LOTS of hot sauce). We also enjoyed the long-awaited s’mores.

Our tent was cozy and the stars were incredible. But the best part of it was actually just enjoying down time in nature. There was no official program- just- “Explore! Stay where we can see you! Have fun!” We made some mud pies, discovered a slug party, and enjoyed our own version of a hammock.

Not sure where we’re off to next, but camp has given us some mad skills. Once we reconnect with Yeti & S’mores, the sky’s the limit… Watch out, world!
