Stuffies Take Advantage of the Brief Thaw

Yesterday the temperature got really warm and we just had to go outside for an adventure! Don’t let this picture fool you- there’s still LOTS of ice and snow on the lake. But it was so nice we were reminded of those beautiful fall days! We talked our landlord into going to the dog park. We had heard really great things from Stella when she was up a few weeks ago. Besides, our new friends haven’t really seen the sights since they arrived here.

We could tell we were in the right place because we could still catch the scent Stella left behind. So we found the fenced enclosed area and were just about ready to enter. Suddenly, Scottie yelled, “You can’t go in there!” He read on the posted sign that ”all pets, other than dogs, are prohibited from entering the dog park”. Sometimes it doesn’t pay to be a reader.

Well, who wanted to go into a fenced yard anyway?! There might be amazing things in there, and there might not. We’ll pretend “not” because then we won’t be as sad. Like our friends on the kitchen raid- we were very disappointed.

Our expedition would have been a complete bummer except that there was a big surprise on the way home. The dog park is right near the playground! First we came across some playground equipment that was unoccupied as most kids here are back in school.

After Scottie zoomed around the equipment, he finally found some steps to get to the top. We didn’t want him to feel badly (the rest of us just flew right up) so we greeted him with a big cheer. You will see our first attempt at going down the slide didn’t go so well. It’s harder to slide than to fly, that’s for sure! Scottie was very gracious & didn’t laugh at us. We think it’s because we didn’t give him a hard time about getting to the top of the slide.

It sure looks a lot longer (and easier) from the top of the slide than from the bottom. We eventually figured out the downdraft and the trick of sliding. We all made it safely and had a terrific time. Anyhow we did enjoy a quite a few slides down. Then Amelia pointed out that we weren’t really seeing any new scenery (just the same place) so we moved on down the park in search of more adventures. Well, that’s it for now.
