Stuffie Summer Reading Raises Some Questions
Katie here reporting from the Oregon Coast. I have to admit, I’m a little concerned about some of the research my Stuffies have been doing. They read the amazing book reviews Amelia wrote with the Stuffies at the house where she & Eliza live. And it gave them some ideas. Now, don’t get me wrong- I’m ALL about learning and reading and asking questions. It’s just that, well… you’ll see.
Jicama loves Leo Lionni. Most especially the book Frederick (but that was checked out.) The colors, the stories of nature, the messages of appreciating what’s around you, the animals- so many things to love!
At first, I was glad to see Little Guy 2 taking such an interest in reading. Anyone who knows the Pigeon and Little Guy 2 can immediately see some connections. They have a LOT in common. In a surprising move, our lizard friend was willing to share his everlasting cookie to help the Pigeon feel better. (Hooray for empathy & perspective taking!) Will this be the start of a great friendship? Or the start of a huge protest movement when they team up and demand baked goodies? Stay tuned for how that goes. I’ve put my brownie making supplies in a super-secret-top-security-vault. (Do I trust them? I do not.)
Wonderful to see Fajita willing to read this fabulous book about the surprising results of a Science experiment in the book June 29, 1999. Then they saw their giant shadow on the cover and decided to dig deep to find out exactly how to make small things giant. Are they planning to super-size themself? Or food? Or toys? Or….? Skies the limit when you have a huge imagination….
Okay, now we’re talking! Snitch and Twitch find George & Martha stories fascinating. Two best buddies that are similar and very different at the same time? Sounds like a perfect match. They read this whole book, and then re-read “The Surprise” a bunch of times. Not gonna say they took notes, but there was a worrisome amount of time going between the book and the window to see the water spigots. What exactly are they planning to do with the hoses? Should I be worried for myself? My Stuffies? Everyone?
Okay, I don’t need to say too much about why I’m concerned re: Taco reading Dragons Love Tacos. He spent an inordinate amount of time looking at this two-page spread. And eating tacos with hot sauce to practice his fire-breathing capabilities. Maybe that’s why Snitch & Twitch are reading about hoses? We can only hope so! My only question here is, who thought giving my dragon an everlasting bottle of Hot Sauce was a good idea? And why did I keep it in the house?
Well, this next photo confirms my suspicions about Yeti. She only requested books about famous Art heists & bank robberies. Don’t worry, I didn’t check those out of the library for her. NO WAY! But this seemed like a good compromise. Until she started taking notes on Houdini and Me. If she asks for more books about escape artists, we’ll have to have a long talk. She insists that it’s just about the magic. Oh, yeah, Yeti? Then how do you explain Fly on the Wall?
