No Town is Too Small
Greetings, my loyal Yeti fans! I’ve taken my Campaign to the frozen north, accompanied by my BFF’s (S’mores, Taco, and Fajita). We discovered that there’s not a lot out here besides the vast expanses of ice and snow…. as far as the eye can see. It’s also pretty cold here! What, exactly, do people do for fun in the middle of nowhere in the cold & snow? How do they get by? What do they need from their future Ruler of the Universe? We decided to investigate Twig to find out. (No, we did not make up a town called “Twig” to protect another town’s identity. It’s for real.)
See? They have even have a post office.
Of course, the post office triples as a gas station and general store where they sell groceries and necessitites and fishing gear. We also heard there are homemade baked goods (cookies and fudge) inside. Maybe after we get some snacks I can share my dreams and aspirations for the Universe with some locals.
Um. Apparently not. There was a plate of crumbs just to show us what deliciousness we could have enjoyed if we’d gotten here earlier in the day. Honestly. We’re pretty sure we know who ate all the goodies.
We did hear that all the action happens across the street at the township Community Center. Makes sense they’d want a place to get out of the freezing (7 degrees above zero) temperatures. Off we went.
Strangely enough, all the action was happening outside at the not-so-official parking lot ice rink. Some kids were playing hockey and having a grand old time.
For the record, we’re a little confused why this next building is necessary.
I mean, have they seen how much snow, ice, and frost there is around here? Wouldn’t think fire would be a problem. In fact, it would feel pretty good right now…. especially if someone had some mallows and sticks and chocolate and grahams. Gosh, I wish there was a restaurant around here.
Yep. That’s the entire commercial district for the town. Not exactly what I was hoping for. We decided to try the last road into town.
More of not-much-but-trees down that road, either. We are glad to see the civic pride and community spirit around here. These are exactly the kind of friends a future Ruler of the Universe would be glad to meet. Of course, it would be great if we could talk to someone. Where are all the people?
Hmmm. Maybe there is such a thing as a town that’s too small. Hope wherever you are is just right!
