Insider Information
Hello, Stuffie Friends!
It’s been pretty quiet up her in the northland. Last month, Dan hosted a big party for his exchange students. They’re from Italy, Albania, Chile, and Germany. Ober and the German exchange students immediately connected and started speaking a mile a minute. The rest of us would have felt left out, but we were too busy eating snacks to care.
Luckily, there was snow on the ground and we were able to go sledding. What a rush! Ferdinand had never seen snow before and wasn’t sure what to do with it. Gràineag and Flambe had been snowed upon but had never been sledding. All three of them enjoyed the rush, though Flambe said it’s faster to fly. We sure enjoyed spending time with this crowd- they’re welcome any time!
We did a LOT of work cleaning the house and preparing the lunch and decorating for the party. Dan said we’d earned an all-expense-paid trip to Phoenix for the International conference. It was a neat time. We learned a lot… about how many “bottomless” snacks and candies we can eat before we get full. (It’s a lot!) We also reconnected with our special friends from France who we met last year in Nashville. They were thrilled to meet our newest European friends.
We also introduced them to our friends from Ayusa we’ve seen in Las Vegas, Nashville, Lisbon, and Munich. They always look forward to seeing us and hearing about our many travels. We’ve been invited to visit their houses anytime.
So, friends, remember how we helped with all the party prep? That insider information came in handy when our landlords headed to the Cities last weekend. As the saying goes, “while the adults are away, the stuffies will play.” Scottie had a snack attack plan all ready to launch. We knew exactly where the snacks are found- in the cupboard above the sink. And we knew we had all weekend…. It was easy for Scottie , Gráinne. Flambé and Ober to jump up above the cupboard and open the mystery stash!
It was way too easy to throw snacks out onto the counter. And then did we have a party! Chocolates from Russia, nuts and candy from Norway, licorice from Australia, and even a candy bar from outer space. (Ober studied Science in Germany and taught us that Mars is a planet and that we live in the Milky Way galaxy.)
Everything was going to plan… until the door opened. Guess we ate our way through the weekend and lost track of time? They were not too happy to learn that the snack cupboard was empty!
We tried to convince them that someone broke into the house and took all the food. However, apparently there’s a security camera above the fireplace and it recorded everything. Note for next time: we need to figure out a way to cover up the camera. It also might be good to station a lookout. (Don’t worry, we’ll be sure to provide them with lots of snacks!)
Until the next time ..
