Don't Mess with the Fairies

Hello, everyone! Greetings from your favorite cuddly and intelligent bear friend, Yeti. We recently got to go on a trip to visit our friends in Ireland (pictured below). As you can see, it’s quiet the crowd! There was the usual round of parties with tons of food, drinks, music, and mayhem. That part was a blast!

We were super excited to go on lots of adventures like we did the last time. Unfortunately, Puppy (blue dog with brown eye patch in the middle of the crowd) had all his licenses revoked due to unsafe driving. For some reason, if you crash a Time Capsule, space ship, submarine, race car, motorcycle, Monster Truck, and speedboat all in one week, they decide you are an “unsafe” driver and can’t have the keys to anything. This meant we had to search for a new kind of adventure. Luckily for us, it was Samhain time and mischief was in the air. And don’t worry too much about Puppy- when we left, he was busy studying the car manuals and reading about this thing called “hot-wiring” a car. We wish you luck, Puppy!

One of the things we really wanted to see was a castle. It’s important to study history. The long windows in this tower were great for shooting arrows at marauders. We would have had no trouble sneaking through, but they are filled with glass these days. We heard music coming from inside & saw that the lights were on. Apparently, someone still lives in this castle. We’ll have to look for another one for ourselves.

Nearby, there was a terrific rock to climb. We broke out our mad skills and scrambled to the top. As you can see, Little Guys 1 & 2 beat me there, even though I have the longest legs and the strongest muscles. I maintain they cheated. They insist they’re just the fastest around anywhere anytime. We’ll see about that!

When we got to the top of the rock, we looked around and saw this ring fort. It was begging to be climbed, so off we went. It was only when we got to the top that we heard it may be a dangerous thing to mess with the ancient spirits of the ring forts. Some nonsense about the fairies and it being the end of the year…

Just as we suspected, we got to the top & nothing happened. No booms of thunder, no bolts of lightning, no shivers down our back. All this talk about fairies reminded us of something important, though. We never got that Fairy Tea we were promised last Spring! And here we were in the land of the fairies- a perfect opportunity to do something about the unpaid debt.

We found this tree nearby that was clearly the work of some fairies. We looked far & wide for them, but they were nowhere to be found amongst these branches. So we did what any self-respecting Stuffie would do- we yelled for the fairies to come out of the tree or the forest or the fort (wherever they were hiding). Don’t worry- we explained why we needed them, too. Some of us even said “please”!

Well.

That did not pay off.

And, as you can see, Ciara was unsurprised. She was too polite to say “I told you so,” though she did warn us that our plan was not a good one. We did our time and did our penance. And, yet, still no tea or coffee or cakes or cookies or snacks appeared. That’s okay- the joke’s on those fairies. Halloween night we got a major haul, so we did okay in the end. Better luck to us next time!
