Camping is (Mostly) Fun!
Greetings from Yeti & friends! It finally stopped raining for a minute here on the Oregon Coast. We got to break out the tent & go camping. SO great!!! Well, mostly so great. There were a few small issues…
First of all, not sure when I got into this carrying-lots-of-heavy-stuff gig. Maybe it happened when I went to the Himalayas for that mountaineering expedition. There’s a group of people in Nepal called the Sherpas. They’ve got a long history for living in high altitudes and being able to carry lots on their backs. News flash: I’m not a Sherpa. Who decided that I could carry my camping gear & three friends (oh, sorry Gertie)… four friends on my back. When is someone going to carry me around so I can kick back & relax?
Hmm…hmmm…mmm… I can’t hear you, Katie!
So, anyway, we were waiting on Inchy & Wallace to catch up so we could head out and set up camp. And then Francis & Genie noticed something Very Upsetting happening behind our backs.
WHAT????!!!!! WHO gave them that great food? And why didn’t they share any with us? And how come Jicama and I are busy carrying all the friends and the gear while Taco & Little Guy 2 get to just kick back and enjoy a delicious meal? And why did someone think it was a great idea for Taco to get any hot sauce, let alone 2 bottles of it? For the last time, Dragons should not eat Hot Sauce!
Taco & LG2 here. Why, exactly, is Yeti so upset? We had a meal before we left (so we’d have lots of fuel to help set up the tent). And no one said anything then. If you have a problem with someone, you should talk to them directly, not tell the entire world about it. Besides, you should always be prepared. If you’re hungry, then bring some food with you. If you think you might be hungry sometime in the future, bring some food with you. If you are worried that you might need to eat at some point during a 3 day camping trip, bring some food with you. We rest our case!
Thank goodness we had Taco & Pterry with us! Not sure how we would have gotten the tent poles up without their ability to fly. These sleeping bags and pillows sure make life in the tent cozy. Thanks so much, Grandma Cookie!
Um, Sleeping bags & pillows? Who got sleeping bags & pillows? How come we’re just squashed in here like this?
Not gonna lie, it was a little hard to sleep outdoors. It was crowded in the tent & there was lots of rustling around. Also, a lot of snoring. Fajita and I kept hearing mysterious noises (and you know how they are about asking questions “What’s that, Yeti?” “Did you hear that, Yeti?” “Are you awake, Yeti?” Aargh.
It was a little annoying. Also nerve-wracking. Bird songs, small animals scampering (squirrels?), some motors, insects buzzing, trees waving, waves crashing… there is a lot to keep you awake.
A music video about Camping Tents from our friends The Okee Dokee Brothers- talk about crowded!
This is why we brought Taco! Check out this lovely fire courtesy of his dragon breath! (Also, it was pretty funny watching Pterrry try to light the fire. I think sometimes he gets confused between dinosaurs (no fire) and dragons (lots of fire, especially if you let them eat hot sauce).
“Hey, enough about the best thing on the planet! If you didn’t have me, how would you have been able to have a fire and roast marshmallows?” -Taco
“We didn’t get to have any marshmallows because someone forgot them! Come on, people!” - Yeti
We had a lot more excitement and a few conflicts, but you’ll have to tune into the live-action footage for that.
