Amelia Takes Off... And the Search Party Gets Distracted

Hey, Stuffie Friends! Scottie here reporting some shocking news from Grand Rapids. A couple of days ago we noticed that Amelia wasn’t here. We don’t really have a good excuse for why it took so long to notice her absence. I’ll just say that having lots of new friends in the house creates quite a bit of excitement. It’s easy to get caught up in all the fun and not notice when someone takes off for a little peace & quiet. We got 6” of snow last night, so we had to wait for the storm to clear. (That’s enough to bury a small stuffie for sure!) Today we headed out to look for her.

We headed over to Mt. Itasca since we know Amelia really likes skiing and ski jumping. We got there and no one was around. We went up to check the lodge but it was closed. Flicker flew up the slope to check for her. Surprisingly, there we no signs of anyone skiing. Did everyone stay home today? Unfortunately, we forgot to bring our skis, so we couldn’t hit the slopes, either.

We put our heads together on the way home to decide where to look next. We thought to check the bird feeder (as that is one of her favorite places to hang out). We didn’t see her, but being at the feeder reminded us how hungry we were. You can’t search for a friend on an empty stomach! Of course, the first feeder was squirrel proof so Scottie insisted we go to the big one on the post. Still no Amelia… but we at least had a yummy snack while we were there!

We headed back into the house since we didn’t find her. Flicker, however, noticed something mysterious on the sidewalk by the walkway. We had to check it out! What did we discover? Mr. Moose welcoming people to the Cabin (aka house) where we live. We learned his real name is Fred but since he doesn’t like it he prefers to go by “Mr. Moose” . He’s going to keep a lookout for Amelia as he’s high up on the post and can see everything!

This just in… We got news from our landlords that Amelia was doing some research in Duluth. She said it was important to spend time in a city watching planes out the window (also, those are some nice flowers!) Yikes- The strangest whirligig flying contraption just flew by the red sock up on the roof. I think I’ll stay clear of whatever that might be! (Amelia said she’s going to try and find a way out of this window to get closer and check it out.
