You Can Never Have Too Many Trains
Hey, Stuffie Fans! It’s us, Taco & Fajita, reporting to you live from our now official duties as railroad employees! Who knew that spending so many hours riding the rails would pay off? We feel so lucky to work on the railroad all the livelong day! We had to take some tests to make sure we were up for it. One of them was to accurately identify large-scale trains heading down the tracks and record their speed.
This one? Amtrak’s Coast Starlight, headed to Seattle, WA. Speed? Not very fast- it just left the station. Whistle? SOOOOOOOOOOO LOUD! It hurt our little furry ears.
You might be curious what jobs suit us best… As a dragon, I get to be the engine stoker and make sure we’re puffing right along. What? You don’t think a fire-breathing dragon is a good choice for this? Well, neither do I, but I’m loving it!!! What’s the worst that could happen?
Okay, so we do occasionally have to replace train cars…. No big deal. There are lots of them around here.
It’s Fajita here! Can you believe I get to be a conductor and supervise all the train cars? Can you count the number of cars on the Philadelphia Flyer? Can you tell me where Philadelphia is? Can trains fly? Why can’t kangaroos fly? Where do all the flies go in the winter? How do they know when to come back? Do they hear the whistle blowing?
The word has gotten out about how awesome this train experience is. We have gotten a lot of requests for tickets. Magnet Monkey, Snitch, and Twitch all got seats onboard. Well, not really seats….
In addition to making the passengers happy, fueling the train, and keeping everything running smoothly, we have some important safety jobs. All of the bridges need to be inspected.
And the tracks need to be tested before any freight or passengers get loaded… (This job is our favorite!)
The engines and all the cars need to be strength-tested…
And, then, after everything passes inspection, we can open our station for the day. After many trips around the tracks, our stunt-loving friends decided to get daring. Snitch played a game called “Let’s stop the train by grabbing it from the top.” (We’re happy to report that It didn’t work.)
Twitch took it to the next level, but I was keeping a close eye.
There’s more to that story, but we’ll let Snitch and Twitch tell you about it next time. It’s been another long & amazing day here at the trainyard. There’s nothing we love better than going back to our cozy, company housing, having some tacos, and getting some rest.
Till next time!
