And Munich Makes Three

Hey, all! It’s Scottie and Ober here, reporting to you about the 3rd city we visited in Germany- Munich. We loved seeing the snow on the trees and the mountains from the train. It got us in the mood for the holidays and for Winter sports. Also for cocoa by the fire and lots of snacks.

It was very clear that this city loves their beer, pretzels, mustard, and various cheeses and meats. There were signs for festivals everywhere. We thought maybe it was because Oktoberfest just ended in Germany. Ober said, “Nope. Munich is one of the cities renowned for their hospitality.” And it’s celebrated everywhere. For example, thy have a very famous Maypole showing the importance of beer and all of the major beer makers. Must be a big deal if the Maypole is up year round.

This city had a lot of incredible architecture, too. We hadn’t gone far before Flambe spotted an old relative that caught his attention. You might guess what happened…. Yep, there was another roar-off. Flambe won easily.

We had a great time climbing and/or flying to the top of these towers in the square. Well, Flambe and I did. The other 3 stayed calmly on the ground and watched the tourists go by.

After all that work, we were pretty hungry. Unfortunately, they wouldn’t let us into this bakery. I think they were concerned about what might happen if we got at the sugar.

But they looked soooo delicious. I mean, look at those desserts! It’s enough to make this squirrel drool just remembering them.

At least we were able to sneak into the cheese shop. We took a few wheels of cheese and headed out to the square to enjoy them.

All that cheese made us pretty thirsty. And hungry for all the other delicious food we;d been hearing about all day. We decided there must be a back way into this Hofbrauhaus (beer hall).

Yippee! I waited for a big group of loud tourists to be making their way outside and I snuck in right past them.

We had a wonderful time dancing, singing, and enjoying the food and drinks. What a great way to end our time in Munich!

See you next time!
