Should Stuffies Run Your Yard Sale?

Yeti, Taco, and All Our Stuffie Friends!

Amazing news, Yeti! You can make money through this thing humans call “outsourcing”. Here’s what you need to do:

  1. Keep your ears open for mentions of garage sales, yard sales, estate sales…. Really any kind of sale. You’ll also notice one’s about to happen if you start to see piles of interesting things around the house.

  2. Offer to help with the setup. There’s lots of ways a Stuffie can help. We can check out the merchandise, advise about prices, add the tags, decorate the signs…

  3. Keep your eyes peeled for the appearance of the cash box. (This starts out with money in it. If you’re lucky, the money pile will grow and grow throughout the day.) It’s a little hard to open the box. If you need someone with strong paws, just give me a call.

  4. Wait for a beautiful Fall day and listen for the garage doors to open. Dash over and take over the cash table before someone else can claim that job.

Whenever there’s some down time, it’s a good idea to peruse the merchandise. That way you can talk it up to potential customers. Boy, was there some terrific stuff at this sale! They must have been saving these gems for years.

Wol spotted some little people up on a shelf. We thought they were shy or antisocial at first. Turns out that these dolls couldn’t talk. We visited for awhile and tried our best to attract attention of prospective buyers. Many of these friends have made their way to new homes. We hope they have a great time wherever they landed!

On our next break we found a heap of sports equipment. We had a great time playing with the balls and rackets. We asked about the strange item on the floor with wheels. Well, we were getting really excited about going for a ride when another car pulled up. We headed back to our station and watched as a kid came by, picked it up and scooted away! (Don’t worry, his grownup paid for it). They sure seemed thrilled!

It got so busy at one point that the humans had to take over. (Guess we need to work on our math skills a bit. A line built up because we were struggling to make correct change.) Luckily, we found these great camp chairs nearby to supervise the action. Comfy and in the shade so we had it made ..... until someone bought them for $3 each - what a bargain! It was time to get back to our post, anyway. The cash box waits for no one.

On our way back in, we found this great remote airplane. Did you know there are model airplane shows where people meet up to fly their planes & helicopters? We happen to be terrific at flying (birds and all) and piloting (Scottie). Let us know if you’re headed out to one soon!

We thought it was weird they were selling a broken plane. Turns out it was big they took the wings off to display it! A teenage kid and a younger sibling bought it. We overheard them planning to repaint it (bright green and yellow. They also might add some cheese decorations? (We’re not sure why the color scheme or the snacks-on-a-plane, but that’s up to them.) They live nearby, so Flicker, Wol, and Loonie are going to keep their eyes out. Maybe we’ll get to see the plane flying around the lake.

We thought this was a very strange mail box. It has a hole in the top to get all your mail wet. Turns out, it is actually for building a fairy garden. In fact, all the treasures on the table were for our fairy and gnome friends. We sold a lot of the materials throughout the weekend. When we inspected the table after sales ended, there wasn’t a lot left. We might build some fairy gardens ourselves one of these days.

We heard there were several hundred people both Friday and Saturday. Beth reported the sale was a big success, thanks to all of our hard work! We were super helpful. And there were certainly some happy customers! Can’t wait until next year’s sale! And we can’t wait to cash the great big check. Apparently it’s in the mail.
