Friends Help Themselves to a Snowy Vacation
Greetings from Grizzles and John Jacob Jingle-Heimer Schmidt! (AND all the other fun-loving Stuffie friends in St. Paul, MN.) We live in a house on a snowy lake. It’s surrounded by great parks where our human family go sledding, ice skating, ice fishing, and cross-country skiing. They play hockey. They play broomball. They drive off to go skiing and snowboarding. They know we love the snow. Do they take us? They do not. Well, okay, sometimes they take us along in the car and maybe into a cabin, but we don’t ever get to hit the slopes. Last weekend, we had a conference and decided it was time to take matters into our own hands. And paws. And what-not.
The Pig (also known a Piggie) was key to our success. We tell you what, she can engineer just about anything from anything! You may remember our friends’ trip in a rocket ship last year- that was all Piggie’s design. In this case, she was more than happy to whip up some sleds, skis, and snowboards for all of us to have a blast going downhill. Well, almost all of us…
Bamboozled had a bit of a hard time. The skis kept going too wide and it was hard to keep your footing. There were some amazing near-misses. And a few big crashes. Good we didn’t make a black diamond route- the bunny slope was perfect for some of our friends!
Rocky took some big risks and got some HUGE air. You can’t really tell from this picture, but Rocky’s about to go off a cliff. And then do a few 360’s and some loop-de-loops before landing it. Those mountain creatures- wow!
Blizzard, as you’d expect, was a pro skiier. Check out that form and how those poles are tucked in! We stuck to sledding, ourselves. Too many things to maneuver when you’re trying to stay on your feet and not take a tumble. Some of our four-legged friends had retired to the Lodge to play cards (sorry, we forgot to get photos) and some were trying their luck at ice fishing.
They’re still at it- not a nibble yet. It’s been days. We’ll let you know if anything changes. (Maybe it would work better if they’d put bait or lures on the lines?)
So long from the slopes! See you another time!
P.S.- If you want to do this at home, just open the front door when it’s snowing outside and let it all come in. it helps if you turn the heat off in the house first. Also, you can make your own ice skating rink if you put a pan full of water in the freezer for a while. Enjoy your snow-cation!
